NEW Chain Making
February 17, 2018 - February 18, 2018
This workshop will introduce the student to the possibilities of chain making without soldering. Participants will construct copper wire “samplers” made from jump rings, including the Idiot’s Delight chain and the Baroque Rosary chain. Student will be introduced to adding metal elements and beads to the compositions. Basic sawing, filing, and finishing techniques will be demonstrated. A final sterling silver wrist or neck chain will be achieved by end of the workshop. There will be some discussion about historical applications of these techniques and how chains are used to adorn the body. If you like to knit, chain making may be an alternative to explore new materials. No experience is necessary for this workshop.
