Stone Bench Project 2019

The Carving Studio and Sculpture Center will continue the Stone Bench Project for teens in the upcoming 2019 summer season. The Stone Bench Project is open to young people ages 13-19. Led by Master Sculptor, Nora Valdez, participants will gain a solid skill basis in three-dimensional design, lettering, architectural and sculptural stone working, as well as an appreciation for the industrial history of the Marble Valley region. The two-week session (July 8-12 and 15-19) teaches technical, communication and team-building skills. Rutland area teens are encouraged to apply. The class is free to selected students and is limited to ten. (the application below may be printed off and returned to the CSSC office).
- June 7 – Application Due
- June 18 – Notification of selected candidates
- July 8-12 – Design, model-making and assemble components of stone bench (9:00 AM – 3:00 PM)
- July 15-19 – Carving and completion of final bench (9:00 AM – 3:00 PM)
- July 19 – Closing Reception
The Stone Bench Project at the Carving Studio and Sculpture Center is made possible, through a combination of public and private sources including the United Way of Rutland County, Vermont Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts. The Carving Studio and Sculpture Center is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
