Stone Carving: Advancing Your Skills: June 13-14
This two-day intermediate stone carving workshop is designed for participants with some prior experience who are ready to deepen their understanding of concave-convex carving techniques. The course focuses on mastering the push-pull and in-out dynamics that define this style, making it ideal for those looking to advance their skills with marble, specialized stone tools, and refined carving methods. Attendees will explore how to integrate negative and positive space in their sculptures by actively piercing into and through the stone, utilizing tools such as hammer drills, coring machines, diamond saws, grinding discs, and wet polishers. The workshop fee includes access to the Studio’s professional tools and a moderate-sized piece of Vermont marble, providing a hands-on opportunity for creative growth.
