Wood Animal Figure Carving: August 9 (One Day Workshop)

Students will begin the day learning safe knife handling and the proper use of small gauges, ensuring everyone is comfortable receiving the tools before starting. All necessary materials, including basswood blanks and carving tools, will be provided.

During the first half of the day, students will actively carve small basswood animal figures, with guidance and supervision to promote both skill development and safety. In the second half, participants will focus on finishing their pieces and applying surface designs, followed by a brief demonstration on sharpening techniques. By the end of the day, students will have learned basic carving techniques, how to apply surface designs, and how to maintain their tools through proper sharpening.
